Beet pulp is other byproduct from processing of sugar beet which is used as fodder for horses and other livestock. Beet pulp is source of energy and fiber in poultry and livestock feeds. Beet pulp is also rich in calcium, but deficient in protein, phosphorus, carotene and vitamin B.
Yeast or dried brewer’s pulp is another byproduct that is mostly fed to horses. Yeast is a good source of vitamin B, and brewer’s yeast is a good source of protein and fiber. Other products that can be mentioned in diets are: citrus pulp, hominy feed or Tarxien (a mixture of corn bran, corn and starch of yellow or white corn kernel).
